Cody Fink

Math / Science Tutor and Mentor

Cody Finke grew up in Seattle, WA and Ketchum, ID, but in 2008, he left the Northwest for Minnesota to attend Carleton College. At Carleton, Cody was passionate about teaching and worked as a chemistry, biology, and math tutor for his peers and local high school students. In 2012, Cody received a BA in Chemistry from Carleton and was nationally recognized as a prestigious Barry M. Goldwater Scholar. After spending a couple years commercial fishing and looking for snow to ski on and mountains to climb, Cody quit his potentially lucrative career as a ski mountaineer and came to Caltech as a PhD student in Engineering and Applied Sciences.

Interested in using his degree to improve human and environmental health, Cody joined the group at Caltech that had won the Gates Foundation’s Reinvent the Toilet Challenge. In 2015, Cody Finke won the Vodafone Wireless Innovations Project with his mobile based technology that gives access to water treatment in the developing world. Cody currently researches ways to use computer science and electrochemistry to solve social and environmental issues on a global scale.

In his free time, Cody still enjoys skiing, mountain biking, climbing, and cooking.
